Plant Biography

The ZZ plant is native to Eastern Africa. It is a member of the aroid family and found in dry grassland and forest. It is considered to be an evergreen plant but has the unique ability to drop its leaves in times of drought to conserve water. It possesses a large potato-like rhizome that stores water until rainfall continues. In its natural environment it produces small bight yellow to bronze flowers between its foliage from summer to early autumn.
