Description
Calathea Peacock or Peacock Plant as it is more commonly called is a tropical plant that is sure to add a pop of color to your houseplant collection. Its foliage resembles the elegance of a peacocks tail hence its name.
The feathery, variegated leaves alternate between a pale and dark green. While the new leaves are unrolling they provide a vibrant pinkish-red color on the underside which makes for a spectacular show of color.

Plant Biography

The Calathea Medallion is native to Brazil. They are mostly found in tropical rain forest growing under the canopies of trees. Calatheas in general need lots of shade and well draining soil. Brazilian natives use their leaves to craft containers usually to hold their rice crop. They are a slow growing plant but in their natural habitat they can grow up to 3 feet tall.
